Custom Handmade Greeting Cards You Can Make From Scraps

If you care at all about your friends and loved ones, handmade greeting cards are the only way to go, because, let’s face it: the cards you find at the grocery store are junk. They are way too expensive, it takes forever to find one that isn’t completely lame or offensive, and, most of the time, the person you give it to has to force a smile and a “thank you,” which leaves everyone feeling awkward. Why put yourself, or them, through that?

Isn’t the point of greeting cards to show them that you care? If they’re handmade, they’ll know you do!

Handmade Greeting Cards
Handmade greeting cards are so much more personal than the junk you buy at the grocery store.

The best part is you can do this easily and very inexpensively. We’re not talking about spending $6 on the “handmade” greeting cards they sell at the expensive stationary stores. And, since you’ve got so many friends, easy and cheap is a good thing.

These are a few cards we made for a friend of ours who was going away for a year and a half. We knew she’d be doing a lot of writing to her friends, so we whipped up some handmade greeting cards, so she could correspond in style.

Because of their small size, this is a great way to use up all the scraps you've collected throughout the years.

In just about any major retail or stationary store you can find packs of blank colored cards with matching envelopes for usually only a dollar or two. And because you bought a pack, you can make a bunch of them at once. That way, the next time you think "I should really send ______ a card just to say hi," you can do it right away, and it won't be just another nice idea that was forgotten amid the chaos of the day.

Since you color coordinate when you scrapbook, you will also have color coordinated scrap ribbons, paper, and embellishments. PERFECT!

All you will need to do is take your scrap ribbons, patterned paper, embellishments and cardstock, and voila; for less than your kid’s lunch money, you have easy, inexpensive, adorable handmade greeting cards!
